Converting Google Map location (GPS) to OS Co-ordinates
Instructions
Go to Google Maps, select satellite view, find the area you are interested in and put your mouse arrow over the piece of land you are interested in, right click the mouse, and select 'what's here's. This should place the GPS co-ordinates in the box under the search box as a location.

For example for this location (click to show):

this placed the following (or near to it) GPS co-ordinates in the 'location' box.

  • 52.062891, 1.251630

The map will show a location tag near Heath School Nursery entrance gate.

Then go to:

Copy the above GPS co-ordinates (lat and long) into the respective WGS84 Lat/Lon boxes (as this is what GPS uses).

The OS Grid Ref should now be shown and for the piece of land I highlighted above it should show:

  • TM 22987 45491

This site also provides a script to calculate the distance, bearing between Latitude/Londitude points.
